Overview: Solutions Engineer, PI

We are seeking an experienced Solutions Engineer, PI to support real-time operational systems in a 24×7 environment. This role is responsible for maintaining, supporting, and optimizing AVEVA PI systems and related OT infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and data integrity across mission-critical systems.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong critical thinking skills, a sense of urgency, and exceptional attention to detail while supporting real-time operations and complex system interdependencies.

Key Responsibilities

• Exhibit a strong understanding of the AVEVA PI System, including its architecture, components, and operational processes

• Support and maintain AVEVA PI environments, including PI Interfaces, PI Connectors, and PI Integrators

• Understand and manage interrelationships between systems, components, and data flows within OT environments

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues impacting real-time operational systems

• Apply critical thinking and attention to detail to support continuous, real-time operations

• Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support (24×7)

• Collaborate with operations, engineering, and IT teams to ensure system reliability and performance

• Support and integrate OT systems such as SCADA, RTUs, and power plant control systems

Required Qualifications

• Ability to understand complex system architectures and component interdependencies

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills

• Willingness and ability to participate in a rotating 24×7 on-call schedule

Preferred Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field

Experience

• Intermediate to advanced experience supporting AVEVA PI systems and related components

• Hands-on experience with:

  • AVEVA PI Interfaces

  • PI Connectors

  • PI Integrators

• Operational Technology experience, particularly within power plant control systems such as Ovation

• Experience supporting SCADA systems and related infrastructure

• Knowledge of RTUs and field data acquisition systems

Technical Knowledge

• Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols, including:

  • OPC

  • Modbus

  • DNP

  • Ovation protocols

Certifications

• Relevant AVEVA PI, OT, or industrial automation certifications are a plus
